One of the biggest home decorating myths is that you need a huge budget to make a space feel beautiful. Some of the highest-impact changes I’ve made have been simple swaps: better lighting, larger artwork, textured pillows, and a few thoughtfully chosen accessories. I rounded up some of my favorite low-cost, high-impact home decor finds in my Wayfair storefront. Read on to find out why these are the best options for low cost, high impact home decor.

Upgrade Lighting

Any fixture that you swap out from the standard builder grade is an upgrade. You can make it even better by swapping can lights for pendants and adding dimmer switches wherever possible.

I love being able to wind down at the end of the day and dimming my lights, lighting a candle, and turning on my mood lighting. This can really elevate the space instantly.

Plus who can relax when it feels like their being blasted directly by overhead lighting that reminds them of being in the office?!

While some of my lighting is more expensive, most of it is seriously affordable. They may not be the pieces I see having for 10+ years, but at this price, you can justify that and still upgrade!

A simple design trick for lighting

If you have some extra cash and really want to elevate your space, add sconces and wall art light bars.

Large Wall Art

I know, I know, LARGE wall art is not low cost! But, I found two beautiful large pieces for under $200 each! Why does large wall art make a high impact at a low cost? Well, if it’s large, it’s kind of hard to miss. If it’s large, and pretty, and well placed, that’s the high impact. It looks much better than scattered smaller art. Another great option is a well placed gallery wall.

Layer in Textiles

A room without textiles is cold, lifeless, and just plain sad. Layering in textiles adds texture, warmth, color, pattern, and most importantly, comfort. Textiles make a house feel like a home, making them perhaps the best way to add low cost high impact items to your space. Here are some desert home inspired pieces:
