Why The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is Worth the Drive

Tell me why it took me going on a field trip as a Chaperone to finally experience the Children’s Museum of Phoenix!? Now that I’ve been there with my 5 year old, I have plans to go back with my 9 year old and Fiancé as well as a family outing. It will be one of the ways we’ll be beating the heat this Summer in Arizona.

As an East Valley Mom, it is a little bit of a drive to get to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, but it is absolutely worth it. My best tip is to go as early as you can. You will hit a tiny bit of traffic going in to Phoenix, but it’s nothing overly anxiety inducing. The museum is about a 45 minute drive from the very far east valley.

Let’s Start With a Photo Gallery

There was more too!

Some of my photos didn’t upload. There is also a 3 and under only area, a tiny race track, a theater area and a hand puppet theater. Complete with costumes and props.

We were there from about 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, so four hours. I feel like we zipped through some exhibits and could have easily been there for 5-6 hours.

Pro Tips:

If you need a break, have the kids play on the huge indoor play structure or put on a play for you at the theater. My biggest fear here was losing a kid that I was chaperoning. Having them burn off some energy in these areas keeps them contained and content.

Make sure you bring a back pack. Pack lunches, snacks and water bottles. Plus, especially with little kids, don’t forget band aids (these are mine and my kids FAV’s!) and wet wipes! You may want to take a fanny pack too because you can’t take bags into the play structure. I did not go in the play structure because I had to keep my eyes on so many kids going in different directions but I could imagine it would be fun to do with your kids.

I wore my Un-Official “at least my kids think i’m cool.” Field Trip Shirt. If you want one, you can get one here for about $20! I’m wearing Heather Mauve in Small. These are comfy and , despite the bad photo, fit really nice.
